Ferakuf’s Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program is rooted in values of diversity and social justice, providing a deep understanding of the many types of problems that modern-day individuals, couples and families face and how to address them. We offer a stepwise program in the theory and practice and marriage and family therapy, including diverse practicum experiences which will prepare students in obtaining New York State licensure. Courses in marriage and family therapy theories, family law, family assessment, marriage and family therapy ethics, child and adolescent psychotherapy and group therapy are part of the required curriculum
This program is designated by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a licensure-qualifying program in marriage and family therapy in New York state. Through completion of this program, students will master effective clinical practices and fulfill the education requirement in order to become a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in New York state.
This master’s program is open to students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution. Past graduates of the program have gained employment n public and private treatment settings and have achieved licensure within a 2-3 year timeframe post-graduation.
