HAL 3200 Laws of War

This course will highlight the Halachic and Philosophical perspectives on warfare in Ancient and Modern times. Sources include Tanach, Talmud, Jewish Law. Moral dilemmas will be utilized to clarify ethical moral interventions within a wartime context. Dilemmas to be explored include the torture, scorched earth policies, honeypot operations, the Hannibal Protocol, collateral damage, hostage negotiations/ bartering, suicide, defining a lethal pursuer.
