PSS 6806 School Psychology Internship/Ethics

This seminar accompanies the practicum field experience in which students are required to spend two days/week (16 hours) in a school assignment whose purpose is to provide broad exposure and experience considered meaningful for the School Psychologist in training. Assignments may include elementary or secondary schools and closely correlate with particular practicum course requirements. Specific learning outcomes and required student experiences for the practicum are in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) recommendations and are listed specifically in the attached Information Packet. The specific purpose of the seminar is to create a forum where students can further refine theirproblem-solving framework and skills in addressing school-based problems. Models for consultation, assessment and counseling services will be discussed with respect to their application in the various field sites. In addition, students will explore the legal and ethical standards that relate to the role of the school psychologist.
