SWK 5825 Palliative Care: Social Work Practice with Serious Illness for Interprofessional Certificate

This course will provide a comprehensive study of issues related to palliative and end-of-life care. Palliative care is an exciting, relatively new specialty in health care social work, and presents dynamic practice opportunities for social workers and clergy/chaplains with a knowledge base in this arena. This course will integrate an interdisciplinary approach to caring for individuals facing life-limiting and serious chronic illness and their families. Readings, online discussion, and student research will include a range of perspectives. Students will integrate course readings with additional research on hospice and palliative care. Restriction(s): For students in the Interprofessional Aging and Palliative Care Certificate only. Previously offered as SWK 6825.
