HOL 6680 Topics in Holocaust History

This course will address central themes in Holocaust history through the expertise of researchers in the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem. The themes will include an overview of the evolution of Holocaust research and discourse as reflected in the historiography of the Holocaust, a new look at the subject of perpetrators, the deportations, Jewish forced labor, Jewish leadership, Jews aiding Jews, Jewish daily life during the Holocaust, the Christianity and the Churches regarding the Holocaust, the aftermath of the Holocaust and the politics of Holocaust memory. In addition to providing a general understanding of each of the themes and exploring the historiography, more specific sub-topics will be explored and analyzed for what they teach about each of the given subjects.
