IDS 5420 Science of Data for Leaders

This course equips students with foundational statistical methods and computational techniques for analyzing data to inform business decisions. Core topics include (i) descriptive statistics for summarizing and visualizing complex data sets, (ii) introduction to probability theory to model risk, (iii) introduction to inferential statistics to model the firm's strategic choices scientifically as hypotheses testing, (iv) regression techniques for predictive modeling and causal analysis, and (v) an introduction to the fundamentals of machine learning and generative AI tools. The course applies these methods using general and statistical programming languages. Students will develop foundational analytical and technical skills necessary for leading organizations in technology-driven, quantitative environment.
