JTH 2610 Banned Books: Enoch, Ben Sira, and Slifkin

This course will study Jewish books banned by the Jewish community from the Second Temple period to contemporary times. It will focus on the halachic, hashkafic, and policy reasons why the bans were enacted, as well as the result and receptions of those bans. Books include Enoch, Moreh Nevuchim, and the works of Natan Slifkin.
