LAW 5530 Introduction to Employment Law Principles

This course will cover major legal aspects of the employment relationship that are not treated in Introduction to Labor Law Principles. Students will examine the hiring process, terms and conditions of employment (wages, hours, and workplace freedom), employment discrimination (briefly; not as a substitute for the more detailed treatment of that subject in Introduction to Employment Discrimination Law Principles), employee health and safety, employment termination (wrongful discharge and downsizing), and post-employment issues (restrictive covenants and unemployment insurance).
