Speech/Language Intervention for Hearing Impaired
Course examines the theory and clinical intervention for patients with hearing loss and a speech/language deficit. The impact of hearing disorders on communication is examined, including attention to receptive errors, speech/voice quality, and modification of treatment goals to account for underlying hearing deficit. The role of the SLP as a member of the cochlear implant team and/or deaf education is addressed. Case analyses, etiologic factors, and review of pertinent research are included. Prerequisite(s):
