DENT 5205 Restorative Dentistry I Lecture

This block provides the didactic foundation of operative dentistry with an emphasis on adhesive restorative principles. Students learn cavity classification, preparation design, caries management, restorative materials, and biomimetic principles. Focus is placed on direct composite restorations (Class I, II, III, and V), esthetics, bonding systems, and finishing/polishing techniques. Amalgam preparations and restorations are introduced as a minor component for historical and limited clinical relevance. Coursework integrates material science, evidence-based practice, prevention, and treatment planning considerations.
