DENT 5234 Head and Neck Anatomy

This block provides in-depth study of head and neck anatomy, emphasizing clinically relevant structures critical to dental practice. Students explore osteology, musculature, cranial nerves, vasculature, lymphatics, oral and pharyngeal spaces, and fascial planes. Learning experiences include prosections, imaging interpretation (including CBCT basics), 3D virtual anatomy, and case-based applications to local anesthesia, infection pathways, airway management, and surgical procedures. Emphasis is placed on integration of anatomical knowledge with clinical reasoning, professional communication in the anatomy lab, and reflective self-assessment.
