Topics include epidemiology of oral diseases, health promotion, prevention strategies, and the organization and financing of dental care delivery systems. Students examine the impact of social determinants of health and cultural competence on oral health outcomes, and they explore evidence-based public health programs such as water fluoridation and school-based sealant initiatives. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to assess community needs, design preventive interventions, and evaluate program outcomes using epidemiologic and biostatistical tools. Students also consider the ethical and policy implications of public health practice.
