PSC 6475 Anxiety and Depression: ADAPT LAB II

Anxiety and depressive disorders and related disorders such as OCD, PTSD have a high degree of comorbidity, are some of the most common illnesses across the globe, and cause significant disability and morbidity worldwide. Social and occupational impairments endure well beyond remission and individuals may be at a heightened risk for recurrence, and have an increased likelihood and frequency of relapse. The impact on families and societal costs such as costs associated with decreased production, sick leaves, increased healthcare utilization, premature death, and other factors are significant. Costs to the individual, family, and society are even higher when accounting for the unmet potential of sufferers. A range of evidence-based treatments have demonstrated efficacy in treating these conditions. However, even under the most optimal circumstances, existing treatments do not succeeding in eliminating the burden of disorders, suggesting that more needs to be done. Prerequisite(s): PSC 6474.
