MSW/CASAC Program

Overview

The joint MSW/CASAC program is designed to address the urgent and growing need for professionals equipped to support individuals facing opioid and other substance use disorders. This integrated pathway equips you with the knowledge and skills to truly understand individuals struggling with addiction and to support their journey toward healing and recovery.

As you pursue your Master of Social Work, you’ll also be working toward becoming a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), with most students able to fulfill the educational requirements without taking on extra coursework or practicum credits. While not mandatory, completing at least one field placement in an addiction treatment setting is strongly encouraged, offering invaluable hands-on experience in one of today’s most urgent areas of care.
