SWK 6035 Social Work Practice with Communities and Organizations

This course will help prepare students to integrate macro practice skills into any aspect of future social work practice, regardless of their primary area of practice. Students will learn how to use direct practice skills to work with communities both individually and collectively, including engagement, assessment, development of interventions, evaluation, and termination. The course will cover program development, community organizing, and advocacy, teaching overall models and specific tactics. Specific attention is given to ways in which social workers can combine clinical or groupwork with tools that help improve macro-level systems within which clients are operating.
