SWK 6403 Social Work Practice and Evaluation Research

This course will teach students an understanding and appreciation of a scientific, analytic approach to building knowledge for practice and evaluating service delivery. Students will learn the relationship between single-subject research and practice, the fundamentals of the language of social work research, the elements of research designs, data analysis techniques used in single-subject research, the skills required to use research literature, and how to communicate research concepts. The course demonstrates the connection between practice and research, and students will learn how to objectively measure the impact of social work interventions. The course allows students to develop evaluative skills to assess their practice methods and outcomes. Prerequisite(s): SWK 6004 and SWK 6532 may be taken as a prerequisite or a corequisite; and SWK 6100, SWK 6133, SWK 6135, SWK 6201, SWK 6402, SWK 6532, SWK 6004; or ACC (advanced standing). Previously offered as SWK 6401.
