SWK 6201 Social Welfare and Social Change

This course introduces basic concepts related to social welfare with a particular focus on economic inequality, poverty, and systematic oppression through a human rights perspective. Students learn to identify and assess social problems and connect these problems to social work practice and policy. Students will connect the content infused throughout the curriculum related to social justice and equality for oppressed and vulnerable populations. Prerequisite(s): SWK 6004, SWK 6100, SWK 6135, SWK 6201, SWK 6402 and SWK 6532; and SWK 6132 may be taken as prerequisite or corequisite or SWK 6133; or ACC (advanced standing).
