SWK 6707 Approaches to Social Work Practice with Adolescents

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skill of students working with adolescents. This course will provide an overview of developmental issues specific to the adolescent stage and the skills and knowledge that can be instrumental in engaging and working with adolescents. This course will equip students with an understanding of the unique concerns and issues that adolescents face and the systems they must negotiate. Focus will be placed on learning about adolescent identity and development, intervention techniques, risk behaviors, outreach, engagement, group facilitation, and practical skills for working with adolescents.
