Grading System and Grade Point Averages

GRADING SYSTEM 

Yeshiva University's Undergraduate programs use a 4.000 point grading system.  Descriptions for all grades can be found in the table below. 

GRADE POINT AVERAGE  

For purposes of determining the grade point average (GPA) for graduation, academic honors, Dean’s List, academic probation, suspension and dismissal, and all other situations which require a specific GPA, Yeshiva University maintains GPAs to three decimal places. No additional rounding will occur.  

Students will have separate GPA calculations for each program attended.  GPAs are computed by multiplying the quality points for each grade the student receives (and to be included in the average) by the number of credits earned in the course. 

Grade (Quality Points) x Credits = Grade Points 

Students wishing to calculate their GPA should add their grade points for each class, then divide the sum by the total number of credits earned in those courses. 

Total Grade Points / Total Credits = Grade Point Average

Omissions or errors in grade compilation should immediately be reported to the Office of the Registrar.

A change of grade will not be permitted after the baccalaureate degree has been posted.
