Residency

First-time college students who come straight to Yeshiva University in New York from High School or from one of YU’s S. Daniel Abraham Israel program schools must complete the following in residence:

  • 60% of the major/minor 
  • 84 credits toward the degree 
  • 24 of the last 35 credits 
  • Students must be in residence for at least 6 semesters at YU and 8 semesters at any approved institution of higher learning. 
  • A full-time semester in one of YU’s Pathways programs counts toward residency.

Transfer students who have attended post-secondary education should meet with their adviser to determine Residency requirements. In general, they must complete the following in residence:

  • 60% of the major/minor 
  • Minimum credits:
    • Yeshiva College and Sy Syms School of Business: 60
    • Stern College for Women: 72
  • 24 of the last 35 credits
  • Students must be in residence for at least 4 semesters at YU and 8 semesters at any approved institution of higher learning.
  • A full-time semester in one of YU’s Pathways programs counts toward residency.

Students who transfer to Yeshiva College or Sy Syms School of Business (Men) after full-time study at an accredited degree-granting college or university (not a yeshiva) will meet the residence requirement after being in residence on the New York campus for at least four full-time semesters and completing YU credits as follows:

Students who transfer to Stern College for Women or Sy Syms School of Business (Women) after full-time study at an accredited degree-granting college or university (not a yeshiva) will meet the residence requirement after being in residence on the New York campus for at least four full-time semesters and completing 72 credits at YU.
