Withdrawal from a Course

Students who choose to drop or withdraw from one or several or all of their Yeshiva University courses in any semester are bound by the registration, grading and refunding rules at: https://www.yu.edu/calendar.

Students who wish to withdraw from Yeshiva University are bound by the policies below and the WITHDRAWAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY policy also found in this catalog.

Dropping a course or courses

Students may drop a course online without permission and without a "W" on their transcript until the drop date noted on each semester's calendar.

Withdrawal from a course or courses

After the last day to drop without a W, the withdrawal will be noted on the transcript with a "W." The "W" notation indicates withdrawal without penalty or prejudice and will not affect students' GPA.

Students should meet with an Academic Adviser before withdrawing from a course.

Students should be aware that any withdrawal may affect financial aid, loan deferment eligibility, housing, visas, and dependent health insurance. It is students responsibility to consult with the relevant offices and understand the implications before withdrawing from a course.

Process to drop or withdraw from a course

Process the drop via InsideTrack.

Submit an add/drop form to Office of the Registrar from your YU email address.

The request must be received in the Office of the Registrar by the published deadlines found on the Academic Calendar.

Withdrawal for non-Attendance

Any student who does not officially withdraw from a course on or before the withdrawal date published in the academic calendar will be given a letter grade that reflects his or her achievement in the course.

Attendance Verification: Students who do not attend course(s) for which they are enrolled will be identified by the individual faculty members as Never Attended through an attendance verification process conducted each semester. The process will take place during the 3rd week of the semester. Students identified as Never Attended in all of their course(s) may be administratively dropped from their courses.

Refunds

Refunds will only be processed, according to deadlines published on the Academic Calendar, for registered students who have formally withdrawn from a course. Students not following this procedure will be charged and will be graded for all course(s) in which they are registered.
