Undergraduates Taking Graduate Courses

Yeshiva University allows well-qualified undergraduate students to take graduate courses in two ways: through Pathways (Dual Degree or Early Assurance) Programs or by enrolling in individual graduate courses.

ROUTE 1

The PATHWAYS program at YU includes a broad range of programs geared to move undergraduates seamlessly from their bachelor’s degree to a graduate degree.

Pathways Dual Degree Programs

Dual Degree programs allow current YU undergraduates to begin taking graduate courses that count towards both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. A maximum of 6-12 credits may be applied to both degrees, depending on the program. Students’ path to a top-ranked graduate degree is accelerated, saving time and tuition.

Pathways Early Assurance Programs

Early Assurance programs allow current YU undergraduates to apply for early provisional admission to competitive Health Science and MBA programs a year ahead of the typical admissions cycle (or more in certain cases). Enrollment is limited and permitted on a competitive basis.

ROUTE 2

YU Undergraduates Enrolling in Individual YU Graduate Courses

Graduate credits earned at YU by matriculated YU undergraduates may be applied to their undergraduate degree requirements or to their undergraduate major requirements by approval of the major department chair.  Students must complete an Undergraduate Taking Graduate Coursework form.

Undergraduates taking graduate courses also require permission of the graduate program director. If the student matriculates into a graduate program at Azrieli, Katz, Revel, the Fish Center, or Syms within three years of taking YU graduate credits, those credits may be applied to the graduate degree per program requirements in effect at the time the student is admitted to the graduate program and at the discretion and approval of the graduate program director. The number of graduate credits that can be applied to the graduate degree will be limited to the number allowed for students pursuing a dual degree in that graduate program (6-12 credits depending on program).

* Earning graduate credits as an undergraduate is not a guarantee of future admission into any graduate program at YU.

*This policy does not apply to licensure or health science programs.
